Our goal at Broadmoor Motors has always been to help people find a great vehicle at a fair price but with today’s rising costs of vehicles, we began to wonder… is there another way to help our customers get even more for their hard-earned dollars when purchasing a pre-owned vehicle?  This question led to a discovery about the hidden value of vehicles that were previously stolen and then recovered but given a salvage title.

Now, we know what you’re thinking… salvage title has to mean the vehicle received irreparable damage and should not be considered as a purchase. But the shocking truth is that many stolen and recovered salvage title vehicles have little to no reported damage at all!! Not even an accident report. That fact combined with a focus on a pressure-free environment at Broadmoor Motors and doing what’s right for our customers allows us to provide a great vehicle at a terrific deal with stolen and recovered salvage-titled vehicles.

So why do stolen and recovered vehicles even receive a salvage title if they weren’t involved in an accident or damaged in any way?

Well, that depends on each state’s requirements for retitling it as stolen and recovered clean title or as a stolen and recovered salvaged title. Additionally, it can depend greatly on the time it took to recover it, which for many insurance companies a vehicle becomes salvaged immediately after it is reported as missing while others have a set recovery time before it becomes salvage. Essentially, a stolen and recovered vehicle could have little to no damage and still, the insurance company is required to give it a Stolen and Recovered title depending on the state the incident happened.

And therein lies the hidden potential for buyers to receive these surprising common benefits to buying a stolen & recovered salvaged title at Broadmoor Motors…

You Can Save Thousands Over A Clean Title Vehicle

Stolen & Recovered Salvage Title Vehicles often have lower miles and have had NO Damage done to them and yet you can save THOUSANDS on their purchase price at BMG!! This is due to the perceived reduction in value while there truly is none and this perception of salvage titled vehicle allows for us to offer a discount on average between $2000-$7000!

You Can Get A Newer Vehicle With More Options

More often than not, stolen and recovered vehicles are newer vehicles that come with a bevy of great options at Broadmoor Motors! We pass on older stolen and recovered salvaged titled vehicles with more damage to offer our customers simply the newer vehicles with little to no damage filled with great options we know are popular.

Depreciate Slower Than Clean Title Vehicles

Stolen and recovered vehicles depreciate at a slower rate than traditional vehicles because their value has already dropped at their initial salvaging.  For example, the clean title vehicle someone purchased for $32,000 would be expected to depreciate $7,000 in a year while the stolen and recovered salvage title vehicle you bought for $25,000 and already saved $7,000 on the purchase price would have only lost $5,000 of its value! Meaning, when you’re ready to sell it, it will have retained more of its value than a clean title AND you would have saved yourself $9,000 over the clean title in the first year.

All Vehicles Can Be Financed And Insured

Often times there is a misconception that stolen and recovered salvage titled vehicles cannot be insured or financed but that’s simply not the case! It is possible to secure financing on these vehicles as well as insuring them while they are on the road after purchase.

Salt-Free

95% of the vehicles that Broadmoor Motors offers that are stolen and recovered have never seen a harsh Michigan winter and therefore have been spared the harsh treatment from salt on the roads which can corrode paint and parts.

Buy Back Program At Broadmoor Motors

Even if you decide not to drive the stolen and recovered salvaged titled vehicle until the wheels fall off, you still have options at Broadmoor Motors. While most dealerships and private party buyers will only offer you half of the worth, BMG is happy to take your stolen and recovered vehicle back in trade when you’re ready to move on.

So are there things you need to watch out for if you’re considering buying a salvage title vehicle?

For many parents, having a young, inexperienced driver on the road can be one of the most stressful times in raising their children. Inexperience coupled with impulsiveness not only increase teenagers risk of being involved in an automobile accident but actually make them three times as likely to be in a car accident compared to adult drivers. When you factor in that car accidents are the leading cause of death for ages 16-19 years old, it’s no wonder that parents are looking for more safety strategies for their young drivers.

Buckle It Up

There’s no doubt about it… seatbelts save lives and your teen wearing one regardless if they are driving or not, decreases their risk of being seriously injured in the event they are involved in an accident. No matter if they are sitting in the front or back seat of a vehicle, seatbelts just make sense to wear. Stress to your young driver that they should wear one every time they get in a vehicle, no matter who is driving.

No Distractions

You don’t have to be a teen to fall into driving while distracted but teens are even more likely to be involved in an accident when they are using their phone to make a call or text, four times more to be exact. Help your teen reduce their chances of becoming another young statistic by removing the chances that they will become distracted by their cell phone and teach them to put them away while they are behind the wheel. Keeping it in the glove box, bag in the backseat or shut off completely.

Enforce Graduation Drivers Licensing Rules

All 50 states have some form of a Graduated Drivers License program which gradually provides opportunities to teens to improve their experience and skill. In Michigan, Level 1 Learner’s License offers new drivers a chance to drive behind the wheel while they are under the guidance of their licensed parent, guardian or an authorized adult over 21. Level 2 Intermediate License allows teens to drive independently but restricts hours at night that can be driven. Studies show that GDL programs have dramatically reduced serious accidents in our youth but parent support is a vital key to that success. Be sure to reinforce at home what the law already has set for guidelines to keep your child safer when they climb behind the wheel.

Limit Number Of Passengers

Studies have shown time and time again that as the number of passengers increases, so does the risk of a teenage driver having an accident. Michigan’s GDL limits the number to one passenger unless it is to or from work or an authorized activity, are an immediate family member or accompanied by a parent, guardian or a licensed driver over 21 or older designated by a parent or guardian. As with all of the GDL guidelines, reinforce this standard to keep your young driver safer.

Monitor Driving

Today’s technology makes it easier than ever before to monitor your teen driver from a distance. Apps like Life 360, Canary or Safe Driver allow parents to see if their driver is using their phone to make calls, text or access social media while they are driving. In addition, these apps can notify parents if the driver goes over set speed limits, hard brakes or accelerates too quickly. But seeing for yourself from time to time is still recommended. Even though they have their license, parents should still ride with their young driver to evaluate themselves how safely they are operating while driving.

Be An Example

Set the bar high with not only your child’s driving but with your own! Too often, parents expect their teens to drive safer than what they do themselves. If you want your teen to wear their seatbelt, drive defensively, put their phone away and just drive than do so yourself to be the example you want them to model themselves after while they’re behind the wheel.
